Ever wondered why the sky is blue? Ever wondered why the sun sets red? Ever wondered why the oceans are salty when the water in lakes is fresh?

Did you know that the human brain is 2% of the body's weight but uses a hungry 20% of its energy? Did you know that travelling at the speed of light it would take a spaceship just 1.2822 seconds to reach the Moon? Science and scientific enquiry are at the core of these questions and answers.

Billanook students encounter a hands-on, experiment focused approach to scientific enquiry. From Prep to VCE, Science takes Billanook students on a learning journey from the microscopic to the cosmic level, from order to chaos, through biological, environmental, physical and chemical realms.

Scientific Experiments in Action!

Studying Science develops our students’ investigative skills, it trains them in laboratory techniques and it teaches the tools of critical analysis and communication. These are the skills for lifelong learning. Today’s amazing discoveries in science and technology impact across our lives. A solid grasp of science is essential in equipping the decision makers of tomorrow.

"The scientist does not study nature because it is useful; he studies it because he delights in it, and he delights in it because it is beautiful. If nature were not beautiful, it would not be worth knowing, and if nature were not worth knowing, life would not be worth living." - Henri Poincaré.
