On 16 October 2017 Billanook College opened its newest building, the Mastery Centre. The Centre is a vital learning hub, underpinning Billanook’s innovative learning framework. For the first time in Billanook’s history, Years 7-9 students are now centrally located – a true Middle School precinct.
The school’s students, from Early Learning to Year 12, along with 150 staff joined members of the wider College community in the celebrations. Former, long-standing Board Chair, Mr Chris Brown, together with Principal Mr Roger Oates unveiled the building plaque and thanked Billanook’s community and donors for their philanthropic support of the project.
The Mastery Centre is the fourth stage of a significant upgrade to Billanook’s built environment as part of a Strategic Building Program, focusing on key teaching and learning spaces. It is the fourth of seven major building developments at the College, which will methodically see each area of the campus upgraded.
This phase of Billanook College’s ambitious Capital Development Plan provides Middle School students and staff with architecturally designed, contemporary classrooms, multiple open-plan learning spaces, and a new purpose-built library. Spectacular views of Billanook’s natural landscape enhance the ambience of the space.
