Billanook College recognises that our International Students need a comprehensive support system in place to ensure they adjust to living and studying in Australia.
All international students are placed in a Tutor Group with local students. Tutors meet with students twice a day – offering advice and assistance on all College matters.
The Senior College Pastoral System is co-ordinated by four very experienced House Heads. All international students are initially assigned local student buddies who will assist the newly arrived students with the adjustment process to studies in a new environment.
The Manager, International Programs, has direct responsibility for the welfare of the international students at the College and is in regular communication with the teachers, Homestay Parents and Guardians or Parents of each of the international students. The Manager, International Programs will be involved in the progress of the international student from the time he or she makes application for a place at our College until graduation and moving on to University studies.
Other key Staff involved in the day-to-day care of the international students include the English as an Additional Language (EAL) teaching team through the delivery of the EAL curriculum, as well as EAL support through small timetabled tutorial sessions. All levels of the College are co-ordinated by an experienced Head of School with direct accountability to the College Principal.
The College also possesses a fully qualified Health Care Professional, a Psychologist and has a strong network of Specialists in the local community available for advice and support of students in need.
Billanook College is staffed by a team of caring professionals who work together to make the educational experience of our international students one of excellence. The interests of each individual are given the highest priority.
