Billanook College is highly regarded for its comprehensive student support program which has been developed to maximize each student’s experience and outcome of their time while studying at the College.
The College is staffed by a team of caring professionals who work together to make the educational experience of our International Students one of excellence. The interests of each individual are given the highest priority.
International Students are provided with the following pastoral support structure:
Appointed Bi-lingual Local Support Persons
Billanook College, appoints two bi-lingual local support persons who provide guidance & assistance to our students and the international families, on all school matters. This system provides prompt and effective communication with parents along with practical support to our international students within and outside of school hours.
The financial cost of this Bi-lingual Support is absorbed by Billanook College, International families enrolling their child at Billanook College are not required to employ the services of a Student Guardian – as a key role of the Local Support Person is advocacy on behalf of the student and the parents. Regular updates are provided by the Local Support Person to parents on the academic & personal progress of each student.
Homestay is an accommodation option for international students who come to study at Billanook, unaccompanied by a parent. Homestay families are carefully selected and approved by the International Students Co-ordinator. All of the Homestay families selected are located within a close distance from Billanook College or with access to convenient transport.
Students are given a more authentic opportunity to experience Australia’s culture by participating in Homestay. It provides both the International student and the Host family with a valuable and rewarding experience, with many students staying in contact with host families long after their exchange.
Billanook College provides International Students every opportunity for successful educational outcomes. It is important that International Student Applicants are aware of the Educational Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) framework, which provides guidelines for student welfare and support.
